Strains
of red hot
and cool blue
Jazz
pour onto the sidewalk
next to the banished smokers
who took the D from Brooklyn
to wax poetic about
Langston Hughes and
Gil Scott-Heron
to the beat and the rhythm
of the music that just wants
to soar through the skyline
across a deaf country
and settle in Los Angeles
California
with balmy weather
and palm trees
and two cats who
Meow and Purr
to the cadence
of St. Nicholas
(relocated)
